Stan Lee's great responsibility. Drukuj Email

What comes to your mind when you hear 'Marvel'? Comic books? Cartoons? Movies? If it's any of these and you smile while thinking about it, you're very lucky, because you belong to the group of people, who spent part of their lives wishing they'd belonged to the different world. World which is brutal and imperfect but has something that attracts us to it. I have no idea what it is, I don't know how to define it, but it doesn't stop me from dreaming of living in Stan Lee's reality.

Regretfully I must say I've never read any Marvel comic but I hope the animated series made up for that. I discovered Marvel for the first time when I was a child watching "Spider-Man", "Iron Man", "X-Men" and other cartoons on Fox Kids. I was really amazed at the characters. I mean, a student throwing webs and swinging around New York? A scientist in a flying metal suit? A group of people having special skills which make them mutants? Come on! Who wouldn't like to be a superhero? The worst thing about these cartoons was that sometimes action in an episode had to be devided into two or three parts, so I had to wait another week for finding out what was going to happen. The plots, battles against enemies and humour appealed to people at all ages - children, teenagers and adults. It's a big shame that the best cartoons of the 90's aren't on TV anymore. Nowadays kids don't have shows which would teach them that with great power comes great responsibility, which may be the most important lesson in their lives.

And here come the movies. The actors and directors had done a great job, but I suppose moving the magic of drawings into the films is kind of impossible. After watching "Fantastic Four" or "The Incredible Hulk" I wanted something more, this little something that was a magnet to the cartoons. Same story with "Spider-Man" (Tobey Maguire doesn't fit in the role of Peter Parker at all) or "X-Men" (how could they miss so many characters?!). I reckon that "Iron Man" had been the best Marvel movie until "The Avengers" came. Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America in one place? It has to be awesome! Finally the Marvel Studios made a film which doesn't need much to be a masterpiece in its genre and pleases the fans of the heroes of their childhood.

If you miss the feeling very similar to watching the cartoons, go to the cinema and enjoy the experience of the Avengers. You may also find some animated series on YouTube. I've almost finished "Spider-Man" and I feel like I'm 9 again. It really helps to get out of reality and start living with superpowers, even if it's only for 20 minutes, doesn't it?
